If you are thinking about building your first home, now is the ideal time to get further ahead!

If your new build contract is signed before 30 June 2018, you may be eligible to apply for the $20,000 Queensland First Home Owner’s grant, along with a Stamp Duty rebate of up to $7,175*.

To be eligible for the grant:

  •  You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident (or applying with someone who is).
  •  You or your spouse must not have previously owned property in Australia.
  •  You must be at least 18 years of age.
  •  You must be buying or building a brand new home, valued under $750,000*.

As part of the First Home Owner’s initiative the Queensland Government is also giving a rebate on all, or part, of the cost of the stamp duty.  Stamp duty is a tax paid by the buyer on vacant land, established homes or fully constructed new homes and is calculated on the sale price of the property.  It’s similar to the vehicle stamp duty you pay when registering / transferring the registration of buying a car.

*The maximum benefit you can qualify for with the First Home Buyers Grant and Stamp Duty rebate is $27,175.

The closing date for the $20,000 Queensland First Home Owners' Grant has been extended to 30 June 2018.
